About This Role

Were you a student body president? Fraternity or sorority president? An executive of a major campus organization? Or have you built a career in nonprofit outreach? We want to talk to you.

The Future Leaders of California Program identifies, mentors, and supports principled college students pursuing elected student leadership positions at universities and community colleges across California. We provide financial assistance, one-on-one mentorship, and campaign guidance to student candidates — and our alumni have won dozens of elected positions across California campuses.

About the Role

The Student Leadership Development Manager is the program's front line on campus, responsible for recruiting high-level collegiate student leaders into the Lincoln Institute's orbit — fraternity and sorority presidents, presidents of prominent campus clubs, student body presidents, and other elected student government officers. You'll research a select portfolio of roughly 20 target universities to identify these students, send personalized outreach, and cultivate genuine, lasting relationships between the program and each leader — recruiting them to Lincoln Institute events and, where the fit is right, developing them as program candidates. This role is ideal for a former student executive — of student government, a fraternity or sorority, or a large student organization — or a professional with nonprofit outreach experience who knows how to identify, engage, and mobilize people around a mission.

What You'll Do

Research a select portfolio of ~20 target universities, primarily across Orange County and San Diego County

Identify high-level student leaders — fraternity/sorority presidents, club presidents, and student government officers — through club directories, SG websites, Greek life rosters, and campus social media

Send personalized outreach and cultivate 60+ meaningful student relationships through regular one-on-one meetings

Recruit student leaders to attend Lincoln Institute events, trainings, and networking programming

Advise candidates on campaign strategy, platform development, coalition building, and election rules

Coordinate program financial assistance and continue mentoring students after they're elected

Plan program trainings, leadership summits, and networking events

Log all research and outreach in Airtable, tracking the relationship pipeline, event recruitment, and candidate outcomes

Who You Are

Bachelor's degree required

Prior executive leadership in a collegiate organization — student government (president, VP, senator), a fraternity or sorority, or a large student organization — OR professional nonprofit outreach experience

Demonstrated experience recruiting, organizing, or mobilizing students or community members around a program, campaign, or cause

Natural relationship-builder: comfortable initiating contact, earning trust, and mentoring peers

Organized and self-directed enough to manage a multi-campus portfolio independently

Able to travel regularly across Southern California (valid driver's license required)

Aligned with the Lincoln Institute's mission of developing principled, civic-minded student leaders

Bonus Points

Service as a top executive of a student government, Greek organization, or major campus organization

Firsthand experience running a campus campaign or governing in student government; campus organizing, political fellowship, or nonprofit field experience

Familiarity with California public university and community college student government structures

Bonus Eligibility

This position is eligible for an annual performance bonus contingent on meeting one-on-one with a target number of students, actively working with a target number of student candidates, and achieving target student attendance at program events. Specific metrics and bonus targets will be determined at the time of onboarding.

Compensation & Benefits

$62,000 annual salary plus a full benefits package and annual bonus eligibility. Turn your own student leadership experience into a career developing the next generation of campus leaders.
