Communications Director

Americans for Prosperity is seeking a Communications Director to lead earned media, messaging strategy, and communications operations across one or more states, amplifying AFP's work on economic freedom and limited government.

Responsibilities:

- Develop and execute state-level communications strategy, including media relations, messaging, and rapid response

- Build and maintain relationships with state and local reporters, editors, and opinion leaders

- Pitch and place op-eds, letters to the editor, and news stories

- Collaborate with national communications team and state policy staff

- Manage communications staff and contractors as applicable

Qualifications:

- 5+ years of communications, media relations, or journalism experience

- Track record of earned media wins and effective messaging in a political or policy context

- Strong writing skills across formats (press releases, op-eds, talking points, social)

- Existing media relationships in the region a strong plus
